Peter Kay’s new charity single appropriately titled the “Animated All Star Band” went down a storm on 20th November at this year’s 30th Appeal for BBC Children in Need. The comic genius brought together over 100 world famous children’s TV icons from the past and present, such as The Thunderbirds, The Womble, Bagpuss and Postman Pat, lining up alongside contemporary characters from children's shows including Roary the Racing Car, which Stirling narrates, Fifi and the Flowertots, In The Night Garden, and of course, Pudsey Bear.

The charity single, released by Sony Music Entertainment and produced by Chapman Entertainment, sees Kay voicing his animated alter ego, Big Chris from the hit series Roary the Racing Car on Five’s Milkshake! and Nick Jr. He takes on a “Bob Geldof” inspired role bringing all the characters together for a celebrity sing-along to raise money for the Appeal.

Other stars joining forces in their first ever music video for BBC Children in Need include; Teletubbies, Ben 10, Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy, Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam, Pingu, Paddington Bear, Scooby Doo, Angelina Ballerina, Sooty, Sweep and Soo, Rainbow, Muffin the Mule, Thomas The Tank Engine, SpongeBob Squarepants, Bob The Builder and lots more!

Celebrity voices featuring in the “Animated All Star Band” include Ringo Starr as Thomas the Tank Engine, Jane Horrocks as Fifi Forget-Me-Not from Fifi and the Flowertots, Neil Morrissey as Bob The Builder, Bernard Cribbins as The Wombles, and John Gordon Sinclair and Sean Hughes from Rubbadubbers.

The single includes a medley of popular songs for all generations to enjoy; Can You Feel It (originally by The Jacksons), Don’t Stop (originally by Fleetwood Mac), Jai Ho (originally by Pussycat Dolls), Tubthumping (originally by Chumbawamba), Never Forget (originally by Take That), Hey Jude (originally by The Beatles) and One Day Like This (originally by Elbow).

Peter Kay, Executive Producer comments, “Children, parents, grandparents - in fact everybody is going to enjoy this. I can’t believe it’s come together and I’m extremely proud of all the work and time everybody has given to the project.” This is his first charity single for BBC Children in Need, and through the “Animated All Star Band”, the charity hopes to raise thousands of pounds for organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

All contributors to this single have generously waived their entitlement to a fee in support of BBC Children in Need, and all music publishers together with the song writers have waived their mechanical royalty in support of this charity single.

The single is available for download on itunes, following its exclusive world premier on BBC Children in Need, and can be bought as a CD or DVD from Monday 23rd November.
