On the 29th May, the Theatre Royal, a superb example of a rare Georgian play house, in Bury St Edmunds, will be hosting an exhibition of Stirling’s race cars, including the first European appearance of his newly restored Porsche RS 61. Although his actual show within the theatre, A Life in Motorsport, has completely sold out, fans visiting the exhibition will be able to meet Stirling after the show has finished.

At the exhibition, which falls on the 50th anniversary of his 1961 Monaco Grand Prix win, fans will get the chance to meet the great man himself as well as savour the racing cars on show, a number of which Stirling has owned and driven. These include the Porsche RS 61, a C-Type Jaguar, a Cooper Monaco, a Maserati 300 and Birdcage, all of which were driven by him in numerous races across his career, and as its the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix weekend, the Rob Walker Lotus 18 that he won the 1961 Monaco Grand Prix in will also form part of the exhibition.

A single tightly focused exhibition area, in the Greene King car park, celebrates the man and his cars at this intimate event, meaning fans will not have to scrabble through oceans of people and across miles of exhibition space to see everything on show.

A must for all the family, from young fans of Roary the Racing Car to modern Formula 1 fans who have just finished watching Jake Humphrey and the BBC F1 team covering the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix on afternoon of the exhibition.

  • Cost of entry to the exhibition: £5.00
  • Exhibition opening times: 2.30pm – 6.00pm - due to demand the exhibition has closing time has been extended

The money raised from this fundraising event, both the theatre show and the exhibition, will help to support the Theatre Royal’s community and education programme. Registered Charity 242977.
