Stirling will have a busy weekend at the HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup, which runs from 28th – 30th August, with his second race of the year in his OSCA FS372 and a demonstration run in the Ferguson P99, both on Monday 30th August.

The demonstration run, which re-lives a little piece of Formula 1 history, the Ferguson P99, with Stirling at the wheel, being the only ever 4 wheel drive racing car to win a Formula 1 race, came about following an email from Damien Smith, the editor of Motorsport Magazine. Serendipity played its part with Stirling already down to race in the Stirling Moss Trophy at Oulton Park in the HSCC Gold Cup, the very race, back in 1961, that Stirling won in said car.

With the help of Duncan Wiltshire, who runs the Stirling Moss Trophy Race through Motor Sport Legends, Damien Smith, RM Auctions, Grahame White of the organising club HSCC, and the owner of the Ferguson, Stirling will demonstrate the car over the lunch time period on the 30th August. This will be the first time that he will have driven this car at Oulton Park since his race win in 1961.

For any Formula 1 fan not able to make it over to Spa for the first race of the second half of the season, a trip to Oulton Park will allow you to see a little piece of Formula 1 history, which is unlikely ever to be repeated again. Motorsport Magazine will of course run a feature on the event, the Ferguson P99 and Stirling before Christmas.

The HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup weekend features a record entry of historic cars racing in Sports Cars, GT Cars, Formula 2, Formula 5000 and Formula Junior from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. Stirling will once again compete in his OSCA FS372, with co-driver Ian Nuthall, in the Legends Stirling Moss Trophy Race, which takes place at 1400 on 30th August, straight after Stirling’s P99 demonstration.
