This year marks the 60th anniversary of today’s Formula One Grand Prix racing, and to mark this event Duke Video has released: The Birth of Formula One

  • The DVD features four rarely seen archive films charting some of the very earliest races of F1’s modern era, including the very first - the 1950 British Grand Prix that took place at Silverstone.
  • In addition to the 1950 British GP, the DVD includes three races from 1951, all in colour, and the German GPs of 1953 and 1954. Among the stars featured are Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Alberto Ascari, Guiseppe Farina, Jose Froilan Gonzales, Luigi Fagioli and Reg Parnell
  • This is no dry documentary, it is action-packed period race footage with original commentary which captures the drama and excitement of some truly incredible wheel-to-wheel racing, as well as capturing an important piece of F1 history.
  • This unique film is from the BP Video Library, and is part of a series of releases from this extensive archive, which will also be available in the on-line shop.
