Stirling is well-known for being a fan of new and innovative technology, his home in Mayfair, London is testament to that fact and to a man who is fascinated by gadgets. He purchased the plot of land where his current home stands in the 1960’s and he has slowly transformed the place into a “gadget heaven”.
Of his current home, he said: “it was the last second world war bomb site in Mayfair. I realised if I bought it, I could build exactly what I wanted”. “I’ve always loved gadgets. My father did too. He was a dentist by trade, but he was a frustrated engineer and was always inventing things”. His gadgets include an automated system for running a bath at a pre-set temperature, which could be triggered by pushing a button on one of many control panels located around the house.
When Stirling’s thoughts turned to refurbishing his home it was no surprise that he wrote an email to Kaba enquiring about a new and innovative ways to provide a secure new access system at his property in Mayfair. Kaba had already installed a Kaba20 patented master key system at his residence many years ago and responded by offering Stirling a totally new technology, Kaba Touch Go.
The product, not yet launched in the UK, uses a new technology developed by Kaba in Switzerland called RCID (resistive capacitive identification). It is based on the use of the body’s natural electrostatic charge. All you need to do is touch the door handle to activate the lock. You no longer have to search for your keys or badge, your hands are free and you still have the proven high security standard of a Kaba master key system. The TouchGo transponder is in your pocket, jacket or on your belt for example.
Kaba TouchGo technology is the perfect concept for anyone who expects highest security as well as greatest convenience from their master key system. Doors can be opened comfortably by simply touching the door handle. The system allows you enjoy the flexibility of an electronic lock and keep the valued elements of a mechanical master key system. Lost access media can be simply revoked and new ones easily programmed.
Stirling was presented with a set of transponders by Kaba’s UK Product Manager, Phil Andrew, at his home and commented “Kaba’s new technology revolutionises door access, the handle is neat and I feel that I have a more innovative and convenient method of access whilst not compromising security.”
