Stirling Moss News
Forget Bob the Builder, forget Postman Pat and (if you dare) forget the Bagpuss - next year's big thing for the under sevens will be Roary the Racing Car.
The show is set to air on Channel Five and cable channel Nick Junior in the spring and lining up alongside the vocal talents of comic, Peter Kay will be Stirling Moss. Moss lends some F1 authentication to the series as the narrator.

Sir Stirling pays tribute to Clay Reggazoni
"Susie and I were desperately sorry to hear the sad news about Clay. He was such a charming, amusing and talented driver, who has now left us for more important events. We will miss him, as I am sure motor racing enthusiasts everywhere will."

Former Ferrari and Williams Formula One driver Clay Regazzoni was sadly killed in a car crash near Parma Italy recently. Sir Stirling Moss pays tribute to a talented driver and personal friend:

In his youth, Stirling Moss was rarely in one place for any length of time. The desire to work hard and travel is something that has remained with him, as we found out when we caught up with him to discuss his plans for the year ahead.
When asked what he was up to in 2007, Sir Stirling replied that he was, “looking forward to returning to Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance (Florida, USA), particularly as I was at the very first event in 1996”. The concours, which takes place 9-11 March, certainly looks like it will be a treat, as Stirling will be joined by other motor racing greats including; John Surtees MBE, John Fitch, Hershel McGriff, Vic Elford and Brian Redman. The veterans of the sport will be combining forces to give a presentation on their experiences at Targa Floria, Mille Miglia, Carrera Panamericana and other great races. However, Stirling has an even more personal reason for attending, as he said he will be, “joining in the celebrations for Brian Redman’s 70th Birthday”.
Things do not slow down after Amelia Island, as Moss will then make the trip to Australia for, “the Melbourne GP and a demo drive in Clive Smith’s 250F”. Then its back to Europe for “a drive in the competition section of the Tour Auto Lissac. I will be piloting an MG BGT”. The year continues at a similar pace: “Early in May, we fly back to Florida for ‘Keels and Wheels’ at Seabrook, near Houston. This is a really interesting concours covering both cars and boats”.
Stirling continues “My next big event is GPLive at Donnington, 18-20 May”. GPLive, is billed as “the ultimate celebration of grand prix racing featuring the fastest cars with the greatest stars” and Moss is patron for the event. He informs me that, as well as featuring the largest collection of former Grand Prix cars in the world, it will also play host to a wealth of circuit events, including a stylish display recapturing the golden age of racing at Donington Park.
After the excitement of GPLive is over, Moss then moves on to “Monaco to join Tony Jardine and receive ITC guests abroad the super ‘Silversea Whisper’ for the GP”. And so the year goes on with, “appearances at both the Goodwood Festival of Speed (22-24 June 2007) and Goodwood Revival (31 Aug – 2 Sept 2007), a visit to Knockhill, Southport, Newport, RI and, I hope, some races in my 1956 OSCA FS372, when the rebuild by Rick Hall is complete”.
If we can keep up with Moss, we will keep you up-to-date on his movements!

Moss who is patron of GPlive, which takes place 18-20 May 2007, will also be signing copies of his two lastest books the Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1955 & Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1961 at the event.

Stirling Moss is set to hit the headlines again – this time as the narrator of a new children’s animated TV series, “Roary the Racing Car”®. Moss has joined forces with a host of top names to voice the show, including award-winning comic, Peter Kay.
Roary the Racing Car, follows the adventures of RoaryTM, a bright red, cheeky and energetic ‘single-seater’, and his amazing race car friends at Silver Hatch Race Track. The concept was designed and developed by Chapman Entertainment – the team responsible for Bob the Builder and Fifi and the Flower Tots – so it is hoped that, like their predecessors, Roary and his friends will soon become must see viewing!

Moss in the USA
Stirling Moss gained a whole new identity while attending the magnificent Keels & Wheels Concours D'Elegance and Auction, this May when he was made Honorary Admiral of the Texas Navy and a Texan Citizen for a year.
The watch, known as the “Rattrapante Stirling Moss”, features a distinctive strap consisting off two pairs of parallel curved titanium bars crafted from solid aerospace-grade titanium. The design is an authentic reproduction of the same strap that Moss has been wearing since the early days of his career. The original idea behind this unique design was to make the watch-bracelet impervious to engine oil, grease and dirt, which would ruin a normal leather strap.
The “Rattrapante Stirling Moss” watch was launched at the Monaco Grand Prix on 26 May 2007 – a venue synonymous with Moss and the scene of his greatest Formula One victory in 1961. It retails for USD7,450

Hospital Ward Named In Stirling's Honour
It has been announced that Stirling Moss will have a new 7-bed ward named after him at the Bluebell House adolescent unit when it opens in the New Forest early in 2008.
Bluebird House will be the first purpose-built secure adolescent unit in the South of England. Operated by Hampshire Partnership NHS Trust, a specialist mental health provider, it will care for young people aged 12- 18 who require a secure setting. It has a Therapy and Learning Centre, recreational and snoezelen rooms as well as a sports hall, fitness suite and outdoor sports area.
The “Moss Ward” was named following a competition amongst young people in similar units across the country. It was felt using a motor sport theme - inspired by the Bluebird cars - would be engaging and inspiring to young people.
The new unit will make an important difference to young people and their families who currently have to travel to London, Birmingham, Manchester or Newcastle to receive the specialist care needed.

Stirling Comments on McLaren
Stirling Moss has gone on the record in an interview with Sky News today regarding the escalating controversy that surrounds the alleged McLaren spying scandal. The FIA has handed out a record fine of £50m and in addition docked McLaren’s points in the Constructor’s Championship.
Sir Stirling announced that he was, “absolutely staggered” by the FIA’s decision. He added that he was personally “not convinced that McLaren was very much enhanced by anything they might have had”.
Although, Moss stated that he believed action was necessary after such serious allegations within the sport, he continued to say that, “the only thing that they [the FIA] have done which is realistic is they have allowed the drivers to keep their points”.
Sir Stirling’s opinions echo concerns from within the racing fraternity that question the long term future of the McLaren team in the wake of the punishment.
Stirling comments on the 2007 World Championship
I would like to congratulate Kimi on winning the 2007 World Championship. He has had a lot of bad luck in the past, has had a strong season this year and thoroughly deserves the crown.
I commiserate with Lewis who has had an incredible first season and, without question, has a fantastic future ahead of him. I am hist greatest fan but I have to say I would not want to see him win by the disqualification of others. That demeans his great talent. Two small mistakes in the last two races of the year have cost him dearly and it must be frustrating for him to have to wait another year but there's no doubt he has exceptional ability and will win many Championships in the future. We have some great seasons to look forward to.

In addition to racing commitments, Moss also joined publisher’s Porter Press International on their Revival stand for the launch of his third book - “Stirling Moss Scrapbook 1929 – 1954”. The new work, traces Sir Stirling rise in motor sport and is entirely based on the personal scrapbooks that still decorate his house.
In addition, a growing number of the fans also posed a cheeky question of their own – as they donned “Who do you think you are? Stirling Moss T-Shirts”. Even Moss’s co-author on the book, Philip Porter got in on the act – as this starting-grid photo reveals.
