2010 Hethel - Elliot Moss drives a Lotus 18
50 years to the day since his father raced a Lotus 18 to victory at the 1960 Monaco Grand Prix, Elliot his son, drives a Lotus 18 on the test track at Hethel. He has never been on the track in a road car let alone a single seater and tests the 18 in advance of a demonstration run at the Classic Team Lotus Festival at Snetterton on 20th June.
Clive Champman, son of Lotus founder Colin, was "surprised to hear that Elliot had never driven a racing car before, and I was pleased to be part of his initiation" and commented further that "Elliot acquitted himself very well, pulling away without stalling (normally, you can guarantee this will happen, due to the competition clutch) and quickly progressing to a comfortable speed. His poise behind the wheel was reminiscent of his father".
For further information on the Classic Team Lotus Festival, which allows the public to see and hear Lotus Formula 1 cars at close proximity, as well as the drivers and a T127 race car from the current Lotus Racing F1 team, and to book tickets, see www.lotus-festival.com for details.
