Stirling drives the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S and talks about the Silver Arrows
Stirling talks about his relationship with the Mercedes-Benz racing team, the famed Sliver Arrows, which he raced for in 1955 alongside a fellow motor racing legend, Juan Manuel Fangio. 1955 was the Silver Arrows last competitive season in Formula 1 ahead of the start of the 2010 Formula 1 season in Bahrain, where Michael Schumacher follows in Stirling's wheel to race a Silver Arrows car once again. Stirling famously won the 1955 Formula 1 Grand Prix at Aintree from Fangio racing the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto, the first British driver ever to win his home Grand Prix.
The footage also features the 1955 Mille Miglia, arguably Stirling's finest victory, where he drove the Mercedes-Benz SLR 300, car number 722, to a famous victory with his co-driver Denis Jenkinson. The Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 S commemorates that win, which Stirling takes for a test drive around a circuit.
